Producers Letter (2011)

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our 55th Chester Gang Show...

Well someone has to do it! Another year, another show and another venue! l thought I was mad taking on the mantle of Producer when we moved from the professional stage at the Gateway Theatre (now closed) to the King's School, our home for the last three years. Due to major renovation works there, we have moved this year to another new venue here at the Catholic High School. This brought a new set of challenges to overcome to get to where we are tonight and l have to thank many, many people for their support and loyalty to the show, and for giving the Gang the opportunity to carry on one of their annual scouting activities whlcn they so cieariy love to oo. They just "Don't Stop...", their passion is "So Strong".

Last year's show celebrating Chester and District's Centenary proved to be yet another great success. We have set out this year to deliver a show to equal, if not better it, and due to the professionalism of the crew and Gang, I think "Wee Will Rocks You" again this year with one "Hoola" of a show, but don't take my word for it, "Do Your Thing" and make your own mind up.

The production team have worked tirelessly again this year to write items that the Gang have really enjoyed rehearsing and performing. I hope that you will ?nd a good balance of some "old favourites", right through to those specially written and adapted items for the Gang by a number of our "in house" production team, without who's help and dedication Chester Gang Show would not be what it is today!

Again this year, we held another fun filled Gang Show camp based at a local outdoor education centre. My thanks to Hollyoaks Network for their continued commitment and help with this event. We were pleased to welcome two members from last year's Cheshire International Camp, "Chamboree X" entertainment team, who helped run some of the workshops which proved very energetic but popular. We also, for the ?rst time, were pleased to welcome a vocal coach friend to Scouting, she has made a big difference to the Gang's singing ability, which I'm sure you will appreciate tonight.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the whole team behind Gang Show 2011, but particularly to the Gang, who again have been tireless in their enthusiasm and commitment and (as ever) have been fantastic to work with this year. Gang Show is the result of many people pulling together and putting in a tremendous amount of time and hard work. As a team event involving Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and Leaders, Gang Show has no equal. It brings out the best in people and encourages personal development and self esteem in the true spirit of Scouting. This is what we need for inspiration so that Scouting in Chester remains vibrant for many years ahead. What a "Great, Great, Game" - If you would like to be part of it in the future please get in touch.

Finally, I must thank you, our audience, for your continued support - without you we simply would not be able to do it, and give the young people the opportunity and experience they may otherwise never get.
